Detailed Narrative Description of Project :
-    Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation are looking to review the MRP2 with the aim of
    
 establishing MRP3 in a way that is aligned to partner government priorities and builds on the
   
   comparative strengths of SDC’s experience in the region to date. The review of the programme

      will build on and consolidate the findings of a number of existing reviews.

Detailed Narrative Description of Project :
-    The JICA Laos office in cooperation with MAF implement the Water Voice Collection Project, which
      is an important activity to support both the
Mekong basin development planning process as well
      as other related projects. The information indicates the real problems and constraints related to
      both water and climate change which people have to contend with and adapt to, so as to ensure
      their survival.

 

Detailed Description of Actual Services provided by Mixai Techno included:
-     Prepare a detailed work plan for the collection of water voices for each province in the Lao PDR,
      which corresponds with seasonal changes;
-    Establish a technical group (team) who are to be responsible for interviews at the grass roots
    
 level; working with one to two assistants in each province;
-    Assess and select villages/interview areas to conduct Water Voice Collection;
-    Propose the select villages to the JICA advisor and the project coordinator of MRC-BDP for
    
 recommendation before conducting research;
-    Prepare and submit an interview area profile before conducting interviews;
-    Conduct interviews in cooperation with local assistants and report the findings in both Lao &
    
 English;
-    Categorize water voice titles after conducting grass roots interviews;
-    Evaluate and summarize the outputs of the technical group and local assistants in Water Voice
    
 Collection.
-    Prepare a seminar on Water Voice Collection, so as to disseminate the results to the Government
    
 of the Lao PDR;
-    Submissions: (i) Original records of water voices (audio and text version), (ii) Summary of findings
 
     according to classification and categorization, (iii) Final Summary report.

Detailed Narrative Description of Project :
-          Air transportation plays an important role in socio-economic development as it provides a safe
     and efficient means of transportation, which encourages economic activities and therefore
     economic growth. The study on the integrated Regional Development Plan for the provinces of
     Savannakhet and Khammouane in the Lao PDR and the study on the Integrated Regional
     Development Plan for the North-eastern Border Region in the Kingdom of Thailand (known as the
     PLANET Master plan) have indicated that there is the potential for the joint utilization of
     Savannakhet airport by both Savannakhet province in the Lao PDR and Mukdahan province in
     Thailand.

 

Detailed Description of Actual Services provided by Mixai Techno included:
   
 Researches conducted over the contracted period: 
-
   Examine the feasibility for the joint utilization of Savannakhet Airport;
-
   Analyse the economic impact for Savannakhet and Mukdahan province through the future use of
    Savannakhet airport;
-   Collect up-to-date data and information in Savannakhet and Mukdahan province, which reflects
    current conditions;
-   Submit the results of the research examining the further development of Savannakhet airport for
    joint utilization, which will also include the economic and social development potential of the
    Savannakhet and Mukdahan areas and their vicinities.
